BOE VFW

On June 13, the VFW Post 5913 commemorated their 80th anniversary, and the changing of the charter flag. BOE Trustee and Post 5913 Commander Virgil Capollari asked for help from our RCK students and staff. At the June 22nd BOE meeting he invited several people up to accept commemorative coins, as a show of gratitude from the VFW. Josie Dell’Olio performed a beautiful rendition of the national anthem; Madisyn Spagna accepted a coin on behalf of the Ketcham Keynotes; and WCSD Fine Arts Director Bonnie King accepted one on behalf of the RCK Pep Band. “The students’ participation in this important event is a testament to their special commitment to our nation’s service members,” said Mr. Capollari. Dr. Bonk and Mr. Seipp also received coins in recognition of their unwavering support of these partnerships.

Jacob Baker

Honor a Veteran Recognition Ceremony

Ketcham Track Coaches and Athletes attended the ceremony for former athlete Jacob Baker who was being recognized for his duty to our country. Unfortunately, Jacob lost his life in a motorcycle accident on July 21, 2023. Jacob excelled in the sprints, but more significantly in the pole vault, where he earned two trips to the State Meet, both indoor and outdoor, during his senior year (2018). Jacob was a tremendous athlete but had a greater calling to serve our country in the US Army. As a human being, he was hugely respected by both staff and students. He had great character that was an example for others to follow.
